Summary of a Full Life

James Alois Felchlin was born on December 29, 1919 in Los Angeles, California shortly before the family moved to Oakland, California. He graduated from UC. Berkeley in 1941, enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps stationed at Moffet Field. Upon his discharge in 1946 he began his Investment career at Dean Witter in San Francisco, moved to Smithers & Co. in New York for 6 years, returned to Dean Witter in San Francisco, and finally retired at the age of 90 from Mellon Bank.

 

He was a member of the SF Golf Club, Villa Taverna, and Bohemian Club and was devoted to such organizations as the Boy Scouts of America, and the Mountain Play Association. Jim’s passions included flying, golfing, skiing, and a challenging game of dominoes. His greatest joys were both his family, and his large circle of friends.

 

He is survived by his loving wife Diane Felchlin, his children, Chris Felchlin, Tim Felchlin, Clay Felchlin McGuire, Lauren Oliver Vorhees, Giffin Oliver, Anita Oliver, Pierce, Dare Felchlin Sturges, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister, Pat Felchlin Wilmott, first wife Sybil Sinclair Felchlin, son-in-law Don McGuire, and grandson-in-law Mitchell Underhill.
